14:00-17:00
Sedon Room, 1st floor, Champasak Grand Hotel
Goal C of the CBD Strategic Plan 2011-2020 aims to improve the status of biodiversity by safeguarding ecosystems, species and genetic diversity. Specifically, Target 12 states: By 2020, the extinction of known threatened species has been prevented and their conservation status, particularly of those most in decline, has been improved and sustained.
The session will feature different good practices in the region on wildlife conservation and working towards halting species extinction. The focus will be the innovative efforts being carried out in ASEAN including in some key ASEAN Heritage Parks, some of them the last strongholds of critically endangered species of commercial value such as Sumatran Rhinos, Pangolins, Tigers and Hornbills.
